Career Development through Volunteering
Through volunteering, students can:
- Develop leadership and teamwork skills
- Earn recognition for their volunteer contributions · Log hours towards service awards such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award, Student Volunteer Army (SVA) Award or the Gateway programme.
- Gain valuable experience that looks great on CVs and applications, and learn skills they can use for life. (eg: volunteering in retail op shops)
The opportunities we offer include:
- Volunteer in a Red Cross Retail Shop – We are currently looking for volunteers at your local shop to develop retail experience. Students can apply at the link below, making sure to choose their preferred location. I have attached promotional material for the Retail Volunteer opportunity.

Students can work together to raise funds for the New Zealand Red Cross. Students could host a quiz night, a bake sale or a sausage sizzle to support us. If you would like some ideas to get started, please find our handy step by step guides at the link below.
- We also have various one-off volunteering opportunities during the year such as the upcoming Red Cross Street Collection.
